Red-Blanket Lichen

Red-blanket lichen on the old Live Oak just between clearing and forest is striking. It appears as though someone splashed vermillion paint on the underside of its branches. I fear for the old tree’s continuing longevity, having lately noticed bark slipping and the occasional branch breaking and falling.

Nothing stays the same.
